Happy Birthday!
Rylan turned 18 months on Wednesday! Can it be possible that he is already half way to 2? We had a little birthday cupcake to celebrate. He gobbled that thing right up! My Mr. Picky lately sure did not have a problem with eating a sweet treat. I wonder where he gets that from. I am trying my best not to create a picky eater, making him eat whatever we are having for dinner. Some nights it goes very well, and then there are the nights in which he will only drink his milk and sign to eat more, but of course does not want more of what we are having. I have not given in though. I know he won't starve himself and eventually will learn to eat what we are...hopefully!
We also had fun this week dressing up to root for our MSU Spartans! Go Green! I think it will be a tough road to actually make it to the Final Four, but I am sure Coach Izzo will do his best to make that happen. Rylan already has green running through him. How could he not?
Rylan continues to enjoy the finer things in life: cars, reading the Sunday newspaper (or car and truck advertisements), stopping to smell the flowers, and being chased. He seems to be attempting new words each day, usually getting at least the front or middle part of them. He now says "chee" for pictures, and "ch ch" for trains. Slowly but surely we are getting there!

Rough day makes for great pics ;)
Rylan had a rough day today. He stayed up late last night partying with Casey and Andrew, which made for a whiny, tired, and mischievous boy today. However, the misbehavior made for a great photo op. Rylan thought that crunching up peanut butter crackers and sprinkling them all over my floors was a good idea. Well, he received some "alone time" in his crib and came out five minutes later sweet as can be. He spent a good half an hour with Daddy following his punishment. Rylan made Jason bring out his puppy, blanket, and raffe from his crib. I love how sweet he looks in these pictures!

Boo boo!
Our little active boy has gotten a lot of boo boos lately. I thought it would be appropriate to point that out to him. So now Rylan points to them and says "boo." Sometimes he gets the second boo in there as well. His most recent came yesterday when he tripped on the tile and his tooth went into his upper lip. I am sure this is the first of many fat lips to come!

Oh so sweet!
I just have to say really quick that for the last three nights, Rylan has prayed with me. I always have made a habit of saying the "Our Father" before bed and praying for our friends and family. Rylan has started folding his hands with me while I pray. I think that it is the sweetest little thing! I love him so much!

Livestock Show!
Woo hoo! What a blast we had at the Houston Livestock Show and Carnival. Rylan and I went down to the Rodeo festivities today with Megan and Mason. When we arrived there and parked, we had to take a little tram ride to Reliant Stadium which Rylan thoroughly enjoyed. We began our day watching the pig races and then headed into Reliant Center to look at all of the livestock. Rylan loved seeing the cows, pigs, bunnies, and chickens.
After eating our bag lunch outside, we ventured over to the "farm." This was a very cute and interactive setting in which kids wear an apron and gather eggs after feeding a chicken, plant a seed and gather a vegetable, get wool from a sheep, milk a cow and receive a carton of milk, pick a peach from a tree, and then grab some corn on the cob. At the end, there was a "market" in which the kids had to sort all of their goodies. They received money from the market and then were able to purchase something from the grocery store. It was very cute, but exhausting for a mommy chasing a little boy from station to station. Rylan really did an outstanding job and was very excited about "buying" a juice box from the grocery at the end.
The next big adventure was the pony and carousel ride. Both were huge highlights of the day. I was not sure Rylan would enjoy the pony ride, but he LOVED it, especially since the pony's name was Sarah! We had a wonderful day and look forward to returning in the next couple of weeks.

Playing Hard!
Rylan has been playing really hard the last few days. He is definitely all boy: running, falling, laughing, mimicking, racing cars...
This morning we had gym class. He did an awesome job and was very active. I knew he had a good time when he yawned in the car when we were all done. Rylan continues to make sure that I am not going anywhere and constantly has an eyeball glued to me. One of the other moms in the class asked me today if he ever stays with someone else during the week. She said she would not like to be that person simply because he is always saying "ma ma." She said it would make her sad to see him keep calling for me ;) Oh well, it will end before I know it, and then I will want my little mama's boy back.
He continues to adore his matchbox cars. I think they fit into his little hands perfectly. After lunch today, he played with those cars for a good 30 minutes by himself. He would drive them into a little barn like it was a garage. They zipped around and through the handles of my wooden tray on my ottoman. They drove up and over poor Lucky. He had a blast with them! Who cares if they are 29 years old!

Good Times!
We had a BLAST at the Rodeo Cookoff on Saturday. Thanks to Greg and Kristen for getting us tickets to the best tent there! For those of you that don't know about the cookoff, there are hundreds of tents sent up with different cookoff teams. It is a Texas BBQ competition featuring brisket, ribs, and saugsage, among the typical sides of beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. It was a great night with free food, beer, entertainment, and great friends. Love you guys!

Oops!
The haircut did not go so well yesterday. Jason and I were disappointed with the final result. Rylan did well, but the lady did horrible. I could have done better and I have no clue how to cut hair. Needless to say, Jason could not stand it anymore and tried to make it better. Rylan was very patient as you can see. I told Rylan it was his first bad haircut, but there would be many more in his future, if he is anything like his Daddy!
