Wow...

So J forgot to tell me this...

The other night I was at a bible study with my friend Mollie when I got the dreaded call of Callie Jae getting sick. Apparently, right when she got sick, Rylan of course immediately became the little helper. J was a little flustered and Rylan told him something he didn't hear and Js response was yeah, okay. Next thing J knew, Rylan had gone into the closet in our media room and said, "God, please help Callie Jae feel better." J asked him if he had just prayed, and Rylan said, "I told you that's what I was going to do."

Of course as J told me this last night and I sit here writing this, tears fill my eyes. Somebody, or probably an amazing combined effort of specifically placed people, is creating an amazing Godly little man. I'm so excited to continue on this amazing journey of life with him. I can't wait to see what He has in store for him.

Poor baby.

The darn stomach bug is going around. CJ got it tonight. Praying that the worst part is over and whoever else gets it, gets over it quickly. She's on the floor of our room tonight snoring peacefully at this point.

{31 Days of Prayer for Your Children} Day 8 :: ADMONISH

Posted: 08 Jan 2013 05:00 AM PST

DAY 8 : ADMONISH

"…we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it."

- Hebrews 12:7 9, 11  {ESV}

Another one of the non-negotiable needs of a child's heart is the need to know that they are significant – that they matter in life and that they make a difference. A parent assures them of that significance when they take the time and make the effort to admonish them. Our mid-course correction says to our child, "I love you enough to make sure you grow up to be a good person. That's one of the ways you'll make a difference in this world."

The word admonish literally means to warn, urge or caution. What a great reminder that all of our correction must be done with the best interest of that child's future in mind. When we graciously admonish our children so that their lives will be significant, we are loving them with grace! Lord, help me to keep you in mind as I guide my child to live a life that matters to you and others.

Fun times!

We had a great time meeting great friends at the Houston Museum of Natural Science today. The kids loved the butterfly exhibit. CJ was slightly weary of them flying all around her but she go used to it. Rylan, Will, and Claire have been friends since infancy. It's awesome to see how their personalities have grown. Fun times!

Sometimes I still can't believe theses two precious babies are mine. I love them so much and look forward to our year together. So many wonderful adventures ahead!

Time out

This is Callie Jae's new time out spot. Jason has used it effectively a few times. The other day she started having a fit with me and put herself in a time out by walking over and standing there. Now, if you even mention or ask her if she needs a time out, she just walks right over to the corner. She's so funny!

So sweet !

This is how he treats her even after she threw three screaming fits through the store. Could I be more like him please? He said, "you can lay on me Callie Jae" and then sat there and rubbed her head.

My little officer.

Ry: Are you speeding?
Me: A little. I'm going 40 and the speed limit is 35.
Ry: Do you want to get pulled over a third time? If not you better go 35.
Me: Okay. (slowing down)
Ry: Good, now you are going 35.
